Ashley Denton

Ashley Denton accepted a gubernatorial appointment to the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency in January 2025.
Born and raised in Southern California, Ms. Denton moved to Phoenix to pursue her degree in social work. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BSW in 2011 and later completed her MSW in 2014. Ashley went on to complete 3200 hours of supervised clinical experience and state boards to hold independent licensure (LCSW) in 2019.
Ms. Denton has a comprehensive background working across diverse social systems. Her expertise is extensive to include (experience and specialized training) in: diagnosing and treating complex trauma and dissociation, child welfare issues and the long term impact on children in foster care, medical social work, crisis/detox, substance abuse and dual diagnosis treatment. Ms. Denton is also certified in grief and loss support. She has worked closely with victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking. Most recently, Ms. Denton worked as a capital mitigation specialist within public defense, where she gained insight into the intricacies of the pretrial through sentencing process of individuals charged with first degree murder.
Ms. Denton has had the privilege of learning from and working with diverse populations and perspectives throughout her career in Arizona. With experience in various clinical settings, she has been dedicated to providing high quality care, advocacy and support to vulnerable populations throughout her career. Ashley Denton also proudly serves as a board member for two Arizona non profits.
